The large Atlanta Expo Arboretum is located within one of America's most beautiful southern forests in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. There is a massive dense tree canopy of Shagbark Hickories, Oaks, Sugar Maples, Redbuds, Dogwoods, Beach, Southern Magnolias, Loblolly Pines, Sweet Gums and more. There will be plantings of various flowers including Corral bells, Hostas plus more added to the native ferns and plants already established in the shade under the forest canopy.

Beautiful Pool Creek meanders through this lush forest with an average of over 50 inches of rain each year. Atlanta is located in the warm humid subtropical Koppen classification climate (CFA) of Zone #8. Planned around the outside sunny perimeter of the arboretum are flower gardens, butterfly gardens, herb gardens and flowered entry trellises. Trees, flowers, stones and more will have educational signs.

Planned under the forest canopy are four different gathering sites within the arboretum having seating, gazebos, pagodas, antique granite stone seating, picnic tables, wood benches, giant flower urns and more.

  • "Main Gazebo" in the middle
  • "Hill Top Gazebo" close to the east parking lot
  • "Backwoods Gazebo" deep back in the forest
  • "West Hill Gazebo" on the Western Hill
For Public Safety, during storms with lightning and high winds that could bring down trees and limbs, the arboretum is closed.
